Chapel Hill & Carrboro NC Real Estate

The Old Well on UNC Campus

The towns of Chapel Hill (population 60,00 approx) and Carrboro (population 16,000 approx) are regarded by many as two of the most desirable locations for residential real estate in North Carolina and price appreciation has confirmed that! Chapel Hill affectionately known as the “Southern Part of Heaven” was the original location of the highly regarded University of North Carolina (UNC) – in 1789 the first publicly funded University in the United States. Today, UNC is a multi-campus university composed of all 16 of North Carolina's public institutions that grant baccalaureate degrees. It is the “Tar Heel” University!

UNC Hospital

Chapel Hill is also home to the UNC Health Care System - a not-for-profit integrated health care system owned by the State of North Carolina including a world-class academic medical center, a top-ranked public medical school and modern hospitals for children, women, neurologic and psychiatric patients and general adult patient care served by 1,500 physicians and physicians in training and associated staff.

Carrboro Music Festival

Chapel Hill, a classic and inviting university town, is served by a wealth of great places to eat, drink, shop, hear live music and view great art. Carrboro, for a number of years was the less famous sibling to Chapel Hill but now has a distinct and clear identity of its own. Affectionately referred to as the “Paris of the Piedmont” it has developed a vibrant, diverse but inclusive and tolerant community with a wealth of talented, artistic residents. It has a uniquely family-friendly, “Downtown” anchored by Carr Mill Mall - a wonderfully refurbished former cotton and woolen mill building with boutique shops and the community-owned food store and cafe - Weaver Street Market.

Chapel Hill and Carrboro have their own, single, city school system considered to be one of the best in the nation. Consistently ranking at the top of the state in student test scores, the system also boasts the lowest drop-out rate in the State.

The “Triangle” area, which gets its name from the three towns of Chapel Hill, Durham and Raleigh (the State Capital), has been the driving economic engine of this Piedemont Region of Central North Carolina. Global corporations such as Cisco Systems, IBM, Bayer, BSF, Glaxo Smith Kline have located their major research and development divisions in this area and, more recently, Lenovo established their global headquarters in the Triangle. The attraction – a perceived quality of life achieved by great schools, colleges, health services, housing, cultural attractions, the Appalachian mountains to the West together with the fabulous Atlantic beaches and the tranquil, natural beauty of the Outer Banks…
